Drawings for my son

These are the drawings from a little story book I made for Jack. It's about a squirrel playing with his toys. Inked with a combination of technical pens and a Pentel pocket brush then water colors were applied. All done traditionally which was a lot of fun.

Kid Friendly

I'm working on more of a "Kid Friendly", cleaner lines, cartoony style.
This is a drawing I did at lunch Monday with a pencil and the ever present ball point pen. I went home and colored it "old school" with colored pencils, then scanned it and did a second version to look like an old, folded photo.

Now that I'm a dad I find myself drawing characters and scenes that my son will recognize and
that we can use for "story time" to help him understand his world. This one in particular is just a practice piece to work on style but I'm sure I'll use it as a fun learning tool for some type of lesson. Maybe something like..."See the daddy holding the baby and the diaper bag? See the girl standing beside the daddy? See their shoes? They put their shoes on before they walk to see the ducks."

I'm learning that kids LOVE to hear stories and they become great moments to teach and reinforce things they need to learn. Heck, I love to hear stories. Narrative is so important and we cannot lose it.

Life is all about always learning, huh?

more artwork i was able to do for work

The scary monster was for a work project called "Monster Deals" that we did for the month of October. The character is a mix of carnage and Venom (Spiderman bad guys) with a few changes thrown in to make it it's own entity. I needed something that would seem familiar to people thus basing it off of venom and it was a huge hit. The CEO of our company LOVED it! Originally it was originally going to be the character Carnage for a comic book page I was practicing on but when I heard about Monster Deals I quickly tweaked it and inked and colored to use in some ads.

The logo with the red and yellow hero is for a product that my company is promoting. The product manager wanted something more than the everyday logo so I created the logo and the character and tied them together. It was a very interesting project and I'm thankful for the opportunity to do projects like this. I've included the pencil and ink stages as well as a screen shot of it up on a web site.

Superman and Wonder Woman finally colored

Pen and Ink drawing on artboard and digitally colored. Unfortunately, Had to rush the coloring a little to get it into an ad I was doing for work but I think it came out pretty good. My manager gave me the "green light" to add some more interesting, eye catching images and elements to our standard ad pages, so I decided to incorporate some of my own artwork. This was pretty small in the ad but it was still fun to do.

Avengers - Sentry takes on everyone page 1-3

Hello all,
This is a the first 3 pages of a 7 page story I penciled...loosely based on the Bendis/Finch Avengers scene where Spiderwoman, Daredevil and Luke Cage fight Carnage and the Sentry is loosed back into society. I basically took the beginning script of that scene where the Sentry comes onto the scene much to the surprise of Spiderwoman but then just went my own way to showcase more of a fight sequence rather than the Sentry taking Carnage into space.

Hope you enjoy. I realize now (too late) that I really didn't leave much room for word balloons on some of the panels. I guess in my zeal to be right in the middle of the action, I was remiss on leaving space for words.
